The abbreviation SPA stands for “Sanus Per Aquam” which means “health via water”. It started from the Belgian town of Spa. There in the time of the Roman Empire was discovered the first water health resort. During the XV-XVI century, the mineral water procedures become very popular. Except for medical purpose, the mineral baths were used for relaxation of the crowned heads, noble persons and their courtiers. For the needs of the aristocracy some ancient Roman baths become bath complexes - Carlsbad, Vichy, Bayreuth, Baden - Baden, Evian, Spa, Bat and others. Today there are various spa programs - procedures with mineral water, seawater or algae, underwater massages and aromatherapy.
